Spain 2015 – Edurne introduces Amanecer

The Spanish song Amanecer which will be performed by Edurne in Vienna, was presented on Sunday, March 1st.

We already talked you about Edurne in January here. Since then, we were looking forward to hearing her song Amanecer (Daybreak).

Sunday March 1st at noon, the song was finally released on TVE’s website.

I can not be objective with the song of my own country, but I must admit that I love it ! I find some similarities with Madonna’s Frozen, and it reminds me the sound of Loreen’s Euphoria (Eurovision 2012 winner). It should not surprise us since two of the three composers of Amanecer are Thomas G.son and Peter Boström.

As every year, half of the Spanish fans are happy (I am), even euphoric, with the song. But given the high expectations created by TVE in recent weeks, the other half don’t agree. They feel the song is too flat (without any final explosion) too similar to Loreen’s one and less adequate to Edurne’s sweet voice.

It’s funny, in international forums (eurovision.tv), we find mostly positive comments, with some fans even putting Spain in the lead. So, in the end Spaniards are the most critical ones with their own song!

But everyone agrees on one fact : this song could be spectacular if choosing the right staging for it. Therefore, I remain hopeful : TVE has indeed learned a lot in recent years – the gap between the original and the final acts of Ruth Lorenzo in 2014 is huge. So let cross one’s fingers and hope that Amanecer will shine as much (or even more) as Quédate conmigo (Pastora Soler in 2012) or Dancing in the rain (Ruth Lorenzo in 2014), that is, the only two top 10 of Spain in the last 10 years.

For the time being, Spain is 7th for bookmakers, a good thing given that last year Spain didn’t manage to reach the the bookmakers’ top 10 until the Eurovision week in May

Meanwhile, TVE published a video-lyrics to promote the song, but the official video is to be released on March 9th. It will use 3D to show Edurne in the quest for her lost love…
