But let’s take things in order ! Eurovision Jam Night in U4…
As background, here is the presentation the Lonely Planet makes of the club :
U4 was the birthplace of techno clubbing in Vienna way back when, and its longevity is a testament to its ability to roll with the times. A fairly young, studenty crowd are its current regulars, and while the music isn’t as cutting edge as it used to be, it still manages to please the masses.
Well … Forget 80s techno, last night was more rock. A cheap and very very loud rock. Too loud for Ethan who forgot his earplugs – yes, I do have tinnitus and I am in a club every single weekend, I have to protect myself !…
The crowd was relatively young, once more very heterosexual for a Eurovision party and the club was as refined as one can imagine given the “decoration”…
The presence of Stéphane and a pretty Austrian volunteer were the only arguments that could have make me stay. But the barmen were really too unpleasant and we went back to bed with the last metro.
We saw the Romanian group (which even sang), the Estonians Aitor like so much, and the Serbian backing singers – let’s be honest we hadn’t recognized them.
And going to bed early was the right idea, since thanks to Stéphane, I’ve been invited this morning to the press conference of Euro Fan Cafe. Small sandwiches – not bad at all – no coffee but Red Bull zero at will !
Euro Fan Cafe is for almost a decade, the place where, during the contest, all European fans can meet each other, whether accredited or not. The venue OGAE Austria chose this year is EMS Lounge.
But obviously, the surprise guest of the morning has focused the attention of the forty attending guests…
Conchita Wurst was there ! An opportunity to present her album and her book, simply entitled Being Conchita.
