day 6 – one day to go for France and Spain

Ethan : Vaidas wears a more casual suit, still not right bu far better… And the whole act is far better too ! The focus is now on the couple rather than the routine and it works fine. It’s sweet, joyful and make us want to fall in love !

Ethan : That’s it. No need to overdo… Molly comes in, sings and it’s beautiful. As simple as it is.

Ethan : It’s still bad, but slightly less. Michele improves, Anita not that much. The staging and production is also more tidy. It is better, but started that low, that it doesn’t mean much…

Ethan : Amber tries to charm the camera, wink, little smile and shoulder shrug. It falls flat. I’d like to see her again in the final but can’t believe it’s gonna happen…

Ethan : I wanted to see Norwegian first run through in the arena. Chills. When Debrah starts singing I have the hair standing on the arms. It’s really really beautiful.

Ethan : First run through from the arena of course ! And that was sooo great… You know, I love the Portuguese song.
Unlike many here, I miss the backing singers’ hats, theay haven’t today. But I keep everything else.

Ethan : The song is pointless for me. They shout out from beginning to end and I just wait for it to end.

Ethan : Unfortunately, Israel has not improved since its first rehearsal. Its only chance to reach the final is the rhythm of the song, but it probably won’t be enough.

It’s so beautiful on the screen that Aminata could read a Serbian phone book with an Ukrainian accent, she would still qualify. I think her voice dosen’t really suit the song but the whole package is beautiful.

Ethan : In the arena I had a lump in my throat. A semifinal with 3 songs having the potential to be a Eurovision winner, it’s not that bad !… No luck the 3 of them are singing the same year.
For the final run through, Elnur wears a t-shirt “CONCHITA UR UNSTOPPABLE”…

Ethan : Another largely improved act compared to the first rehearsal, but here again that was so bad the bad for the first one… The routine remains very kitsch and it makes us laugh more than it attracts sympathy on Maria.

Ethan : As for all favorites, I saw the first rehearsal of the day in the arena. Huge disappointment. First af all we can’t see anything, we are totally dazzled by the background LED projectors. Secondly, the routine is exclusively thought for TV, the audience is left aside. But that’s the point. It is a TV show contest. And on the screen, it’s magical…

Ethan : From “I should have been there for you”… to “I’m here for you” ! It’s actually very kitsch… What if Slovenia was this year’s fans’ favorite song to be eliminated. Unlikely, singing between Cyprus and Poland but still, it could be more tight than expected.

Ethan : Unlike the first rehearsal, the first shot is on the chair and I think it’s a good idea, it odd but it’s less present that way. The whole act is in fact much better today. Obviously, the song remains what it is…
