rehearsals 2015

day 2 – focus on tomorrow …

This post will be updated throughout the day.

That second day isn’t exciting at all ! We’re in the place anyway…

Serbia

Moldova

Ethan : OMG ! That’s what we call in french “occuper l’espace” (to fill space)… Unfortunately, it is just due to the dress and hairstyle. The choreography of the back-up group is really cheap and their costumes are… well surprising… From KKK to urban pop. Sometimes less is more.

Hungary

Hungary

Ethan : I still find this song bring boredom. Sweet good feelings and conscience for an ingratiating act… But I have to admit that it’s visually very effective. The act begin in a very dark atmosphere (not morbid like Armenia) to finally light up and bring spring on stage. Obviously, the idea is to stress the point even more, but the fact is, it is beautiful.

Belarus

Belarus

Ethan : “I love Belarus !” And well, I found Uzari lovely and sexy… I do not understand why they’re hiding their backing singers, cause even if the ligntening is great, the stage looks a bit empty – and as cute Uzari is, he does not seem to sing that much…

Aïtor : I like this song very much, and I was hoping to see the same atmosphere as in their video-clip (the sand clock for instance). Apparently they did not have “Time” to get it (???), and their staging means nothing for me. Anyway, the concept remains attractive enough (especially when we finally see Maimuna smiling… in their last rehearsal!). Unfortunately for them, what comes next might overshadow the whole thing.

Russia

Russia

Ethan : Second big democracy in a row, Russia takes the stage ! Second demagogic song as well, but Polina really delivers. My Spanish neighbor had his neck hair standing to attention. The Russian act is really very fascinating and moving. Polina captivates the audience here, with almost no direct look to the camera. For me Russia isn’t racing for victory, but a very good ranking is assured.

Aïtor : No need for a million voices: Polina’s one is enough to fill the stage and get a big applause in the press working area (for instance!). Therefore Russia can dream with repeating their TOP 5 from 2013. Note: it’s not me the Spaniard described by Ethan, even if I must recognise that she has done a great job…

Denmark

Denmark

Ethan : An act identical to the one we know from the national final for the Danes. It’s just not my thing but they have their fans at eurovision69… I just wait for the Meet & Greet to see my friend Jan.

Aïtor : Copy-paste of what seen in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (actually, they have changed one of the backup singers, but even her dress is the same). I already loved this very much, no surprise for me!!

Albania

Albania

Ethan : Elhaida gesticulates for 3 minutes. That song doesn’t interest me and, despite the beautiful lights/video set, she can not turn the tide.

Aïtor : I have almost missed her performance, I was following the Russian press conference! Anyway, I haven’t been charmed by what I have seen. But I promise that the next time I will pay more attention!

Romania

Romania

Ethan : Romania has rehearsed… Is anybody interested ? I am not.

Aïtor : I like the song, and he sings it well. However, it looks like some kind of luggages advertising… don’t like this part! Background images are nice though, maybe issued from their video-clip. This is the only I would keep for their next rehearsal!

Georgia

Georgia

Ethan : Wow ! The Georgian images are stunning… Yes, the song is bad, the girl a bit vulgar and shouts more than she sings. But the use of screens, both ground and background, is really good. The qualification of Georgia now seems obvious to me.

Aïtor : Very well thought (the images in the screen are great), even if the wings remind too much those from Conchita. I like her costume a little bit less (this year every one is competing to get the Barbara Dex prize???). Otherwise, she sings so well (Ethan says “she shouts”) as in the studio version. Given her singing position, she definitely can keep some hopes to reach the final.
